The Katsina state Governor, Dr. Aminu Bello Masari has been conferred with the Honorary Degree of Doctorate Political Science and Public Administration Honoris Causa of Al- Hikma University, Ilorin. Similarly, a Katsina based business mogul, DR. Dahiru Barau Mangal had been conferred with Degree of Doctor of Business Administration, Honoris Causa by the same University in Ilorin, earlier today.
Katsina Media and Publicity reports that in an acceptance address, Masari who spoke on behalf of the other recipients said the honour done to him becomes significant because it comes from Al-Hikma, which is built upon Islamic principles with values of service, integrity and commitment to the development of humanity.
The Governor noted that the honour conferred on him had made the university to affirm the commitment of his Administration for the good Governance and Development of people in Katsina state.
Masari therefore accepted the honor graciously on behalf of other recipients and assured that they would continue to justify the awards.
Masari however, used the occasion to speak on the achievements of the APC Administration in revitalizing the education sector in the last 3 and half years. He reported to the gathering at the convocation that the programmes and reforms in the education sector which is an integral part of the Restoration Agenda have started yielding visible, positive and impressive results.
The Governor explained that students enrollment had increased, gender gaps in schools have reduced while performance of students in National Examinations had improved significantly.
@katgovmedia reports that the Governor however informed the gathering that challenges still remain to be surmounted in the education sector in the state, adding that with determination, the APC Administration would continue to work towards restoring the glory of the sector for meaningful development to be attained in the state.
The third recipient is a former minister of transport, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman.
Highlight of the convocation ceremony were speeches by the pro-chancellor, a former inspector General of Police, Alhaji Muhammad Dikko Abubakar, the vice Chancellor, Prof. Taofeek Ibrahim, the representative of NUC and the awards of Degrees and certificates as well as the Honorary Degrees.
