Teachers’ unions and associations across Katsina including Nigerian Union of Teachers, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) amongst others endorsed the continuity of President Muhammadu Buhari and governor Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Aminu Bello Masari’s Second term Bids, today at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.
Katsina Media and Publicity reports that the teachers who have benefitted more than enough from the Masari’s Administration came together to express their profound gratitude to the Governor and also declare their full support for the continuity of the APC Administration from top to bottom.
In attendance at the event are the S.A. Higher Education, Dr. Bashir ruwan godia, the President of ANCOPSS, Haj. Rakia M. Inuwa who was represented by Vice chairman, Shehu Garba.
The S.A. Higher Education in his speech said the good intentions and actions of Masari was the driving force behind their stay and contribution to this government, adding he is sure that he is working with a man of integrity through which he had achieved much of his dreams for the education sector.
In his remarks the NUT Chairman Katsina state, stated that the Masari Administration had constructed and equipped schools across the state with structures and equipment that levels up the 21st century standard. He however stated that no Government has ever tried like the Masari Administration in prompt payment of salaries, pension, gratuity and even the recruitment and promotion of teachers at all levels across the state.
The union promised to reciprocate all the aforementioned gestures by ensuring industrial harmony in the state and effective service delivery on the side of their members while further appealing for 27.5 % Teachers Peculiar Allowance for both primary and secondary school teachers which had been suspended by the previous administration.
The President of ANCOPSS whose speech was read by Shehu Garba also stated the inexplicable success of the administration of Dallatu and further endorsed the continuity of the administration by assuring Masari of their full support for APC SAK.
Shehu also highlighted the reasons for their total support to include the prompt payment of salaries, renovation and construction of schools, provision of teachers and learning materials, prompt promotion, prompt payment of Examination fees, financing of teacher’s seminars and trainings amongst many others.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Education Dr, Badamasi Lawal, had highlighted some of the greatest achievements of the Masari administration, adding the government had prioritize Education as its fundamental and centre piece, he said over 2000no class rooms were renovated in the last three and half years noting over 400blocks of new class rooms were also constructed, aside toilets, stores and offices. In the areas of welfare of teachers, the commissioner, recounted that the Masari led Administration had settled all backlogs of areas to pensioners and that the retirement package is now in it normal status so much so that retiree’s do not have to wait years without obtaining their benefits.
On promotion, teachers training and retraining, employment of teacher and the state innovation of the Spower scheme to augment the shortage of teachers capacity across the state with 7000 manpower, the commissioner applaud the Masaris talent and wisdom in that regards
The Governor in his address, appreciated their gesture for converging in these numbers, Assuring the well being and development of the people and state of Katsina is the duty of the Government that he will continue to perform diligently.
Masari cautioned the teachers to perform their duty with utmost integrity and ensure that the pupils/students under each and everyone of them understands that ought to and that they should teach the children the basic morals of life as it is part and parcel of their duties.
He further urged parents to be mindful of the upbringing of their children and parents should also educate the girl child fully and not flicker on the worth of doing so because women perform a greater role in the proper administration of household duties including child upbringing much more often than the male parents.
